2021 BMW 3 Series Plug-in Hybrid
The 3 Series plug-in hybrid is one of the better sorted PHEVs. It builds on the already accomplished 3 Series which blends driving enjoyment, creature comforts, high-tech features, and good fuel economy with the ability to drive on electric power for 20 miles according to the EPA. The punchy 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder paired with a smooth and responsive eight-speed automatic remain and work in tandem with the electric drive. Pure EV mode can be locked in, say for urban driving if the battery is sufficiently charged. It takes three hours to charge the battery on 240-volt. Rear-wheel drive is standard, with all-wheel drive available. Handling is nimble, the ride is firm yet composed. Seat comfort and fit and finish are first-rate. Note that trunk space is a bit compromised for the 330e but the rear seat still folds which helps. The latest iDrive infotainment system is not as intuitive as previous versions, partly because the climate control buttons are in the touchscreen.
