The fourth-generation Tucson is one of the better compact SUVs. The hybrid's pairing of a 1.6-liter turbo engine and electric assist makes it more responsive and quieter than the standard Tucson, and it got an impressive 35 mpg overall in our tests. With the non-hybrid 187-hp, 2.5-liter four-cylinder coupled to an eight-speed automatic, the Tucson accelerates leisurely. The ride is firm yet steady, handling is responsive and secure, and the nicely trimmed cabin is relatively quiet. The back seat is roomy, and the cargo area is generous for the class. Controls are easy to use. But higher trims replace physical volume and temperature knobs with touch-sensitive controls and a push-button gear selector. Standard active safety features include FCW, AEB with pedestrian detection, BSW, RCTW, LDW, and LKA. For 2025 The hybrid and PHEV received a slight horsepower increase -- from 226 to 231 for the hybrid and from 261 to 268 for the PHEV. 2025 models also feature a revised interior with a standard 12.3 display and standard wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
