The K5 replaces the Optima. It shares a platform with the Hyundai Sonata, and is available with all-wheel drive. It also rides more comfortably than the Sonata. Handling is secure but not sporty. The roomy cabin has a traditional layout including a conventional shifter, but buyers unfortunately have to opt for the GT-Line trim or above to get a power driver's seat. The infotainment system is easy to use but only versions with the smaller screen have wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane keeping assistance are standard. Plus, there's also a driver attention monitor and rear seat reminder, but blind spot warning only comes on higher trims. The K5 gets a freshening, including a new 2.5-liter engine, that replaced the 1.6-liter turbo, for the 2025 model year.
