Cadillac is primarily a luxury brand, selling quieter and higher-tech variants of Chevrolet vehicles. Its SUV line spans from compact options up to the enormous Escalade. Several boldly designed EV models have excellent range, quick acceleration, and fast charging speeds. There’s also the V-Series, a line of performance versions available for several vehicles, which can compete with the best sports sedans from Europe. Most models are available with excellent driver assistance tech, including GM’s Super Cruise. New car reliability across the brand is average. Several new models are Consumer Reports recommended for their interior quality, comfort, and fit and finish. We also recommend some of the brand’s used models.
Based on GM's Ultium modular electric platform, the two-row Optiq SUV will be positioned below the Lyriq in the automaker's expanding line of EVs. There is a single powertrain configuration, with about 300 horsepower and all-wheel drive, and one battery pack at 85 kWh. For now, Cadillac is estimating the driving range at 300 miles. The elegant interior houses a massive 33-inch wide display that encompasses instrument panel and infotainment system functions. Fortunately, there are still physical buttons for many common controls. Fitting with its high-tech image, the Optiq has a comprehensive suite of standard active safety and driver assistance features, including Super Cruise, an active driving assistance system that can handle acceleration, braking, and steering on pre-mapped divided highways with a connected subscription.
