The RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid is the RAV4 Prime renamed for 2025. The plug-in system transforms the RAV4 into a quick, quiet, comfortable-riding, and more upscale SUV. It bridges the gap between a hybrid and a pure EV. With its electric drive and 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine, the RAV4 Plug-in Hybrid produces a combined 302 hp, which makes for brisk acceleration. The added electric power keeps the gas engine from having to rev high, where it can become noisy. The plug-in version has an EPA-estimated 42 miles of electric-only driving range, and it got 34 mpg once it reverted to hybrid mode. It takes about 2.5 hours to charge the battery on a 240-volt outlet and around 12 hours to charge using the included charger with a standard 120-volt outlet.
