Based on GM's Ultium modular electric platform, the two-row Optiq SUV is positioned below the Lyriq in the automaker's expanding line of EVs. There is a single powertrain configuration, with 300 horsepower and all-wheel drive, and one battery pack at 85 kWh. The driving range is an EPA estimated 302 miles. The elegant interior houses a massive 33-inch wide display that encompasses instrument panel and infotainment system functions. Fortunately, there are still physical buttons for many common controls. Fitting with its high-tech image, the Optiq has a comprehensive suite of standard active safety and driver assistance features, including Super Cruise, an active driving assistance system that can handle acceleration, braking, and steering on pre-mapped divided highways, with a connected subscription after three years. 2026 brings a performance V version with 519 hp. Rear-wheel drive is added and the AWD version gains an extra 140 hp. A Tesla-style NACS charger is now standard.
