2017 Buick Regal

Buick’s line of two- and three-row SUVs are worth considering for shoppers looking for a nicer interior than in a Chevrolet or Ford without the luxury prices of a Cadillac, Lincoln, Lexus, or Acura. Options within Buick’s lineup start with the Envista, which is unusually sized between a large sedan and a subcompact SUV. The largest options include the three-row Enclave. Some of Buick’s models have earned Consumer Reports recommendations for having intuitive infotainment systems and quiet, pleasant interiors. Among U.S. car companies, Buick also ranks high in our new car reliability ratings. Some recent models also made our lists of recommended used cars.

Before 2011, the Regal was a humdrum car with a floaty ride and rubbery steering. Buick revitalized the Regal nameplate in 2011, basing the model on Germany's Opel Insignia. As such, it conveys a typically European driving experience, with a taut ride, sporty handling, and excellent fit and finish. Firm, supportive seats and tight rear accommodations are another European trait of Buick's mid-size model. Changes for 2014 included more horsepower for the turbocharged engine, a revised interior treatment with simpler controls, more available contemporary electronic safety features and optional all-wheel drive.
