Like the S40 sedan, the V50 wagon shares mechanical components with the Mazda3 and European Ford Focus. It corners fairly nimbly but has a stiff ride. The standard 2.4-liter, five-cylinder engine sounds raspy. A stronger, turbocharged engine powers the T5. The optional all-wheel-drive system works well. Although externally small, the interior space is well thought out. The front seats are supportive but the rear seat is very tight. The compact interior, including a folding front passenger seat, is versatile.
