2026 Chevrolet Equinox EV

The Equinox EV is one of the least expensive EVs, starting at $35,000. This SUV is offered either in front-drive versions with 319 miles of range or all-wheel-drive versions that have 285 miles of range (307 for 2025) as per the EPA. Our tested 2024 all-wheel-drive model managed a competitive 304 miles in our 70-mph highway-range test. The 85 kWh battery can be charged at home relatively quickly thanks to an 11.5 kW on-board charger. Maximum DC-fast charging capacity is 150 kW, which is not a standout. Regen braking can be added on the fly through a paddle by the steering wheel. The Equinox EV is quick, quiet, and rides comfortably. Handling is responsive and more so than its brethren, the Blazer EV. Like several other EVs, it has retractable door handles that become flush with the doors when the car starts moving. GM's excellent hands-free Super Cruise driver assistance technology is optional, but unfortunately Android Auto or Apple CarPlay are not offered. For 2025, both the front- and all-wheel-drive versions gained extra horsepower. The all-wheel-drive model also saw an increase in driving range.

Brand context

About Chevrolet

Chevrolet sells a wide range of sedans, coupes, compact SUVs, large SUVs, EVs, and pickup trucks. Most models have roomy interiors and come with standard safety and convenience technology. Several models, however, have poor visibility and lack steering agility. Many Chevrolets rank average or below average for reliability in CR’s rankings. The brand stands out for selling historically significant and category-defining vehicles. The Suburban and Tahoe can keep three rows of passengers comfortable within their enormous cabins. The Silverado pickup truck competes with the best-selling Ford F-150 and Ram 1500 by balancing interior comfort with towing and cargo capability. In the past and today, the Camaro and Corvette are performance car bargains. The rear/mid-engined “C8” Corvette can be as thrilling as much more expensive European supercars. With some exceptions, used Chevrolets can have reliability issues, but are often less expensive to maintain and repair than competitors.
