2024 Fiat 500e

Fiat only sells one vehicle in the U.S., the tiny electric 500e EV. Inspired by the beloved “Cinquecento” that put Italy back on the road after World War II and co-starred in countless art films, the battery-powered runabout is easy to park and short on cargo space. In years past, Fiat sold a gas-powered version of the 500, including a high-powered, sporty Abarth variant. Fiat also sold a handful of lackluster subcompact SUVs that earned low scores in Consumer Reports'' road tests, and the 124 roadster, its version of the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Fiat is part of the Stellantis conglomerate.

The quintessential minicar is expected to return for the 2024 model year as an EV only. The tiny electric car will retain the 500's cheerful charm and small footprint. Fiat is positioning the new 500e as a stylish city car rather than a cheap runabout, and as such we expect the cars to be well-equipped with modern technology and stylish interior trim. The new 500e should have a range of about 150 miles per charge, and will be able to add 30 miles of range from a 5-minute stop at a DC fast charging station. Because it will be made in Italy, the 500 likely won’t qualify for federal EV tax credits.
