2024 Lexus UX

Lexus, Toyota’s upscale sub-brand, is among the few luxury automakers that successfully merges technologically-advanced designs with consistently great reliability. Interiors are quiet and finished with finely-crafted materials. The engines are generally smooth and powerful. Many of its cars and SUVs are available with more fuel-efficient hybrid powertrains. Lexus continues to sell sedans, with its ES, IS, and top-shelf LS models. Most of its SUVs have done well in our testing, including the NX, RX, and TX. The brand’s first all-electric vehicle, the RZ, is a luxury version of the Toyota bZ4X EV. Lexus also sells two-door coupes and convertibles, the RC and LC. Multiple Lexus models have earned Consumer Reports’ recommendation for used cars.

Lexus's new entry-level luxury SUV is the brand's smallest model. It is offered in front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. The hybrid got an excellent 37 mpg overall in our tests, but its engine is very whiny when it revs. The UX has a comfortable ride, but it isn't as plush as the bigger, more-expensive Lexus SUVs. Handling is responsive and the compact size makes the UX very maneuverable, but the UX isn't sporty to drive. Visibility is limited all around and the interior is tight, particularly the rear seat. The interior is not as fancy as it is in other Lexus models, yet it has many of the brand's fussy controls. In 2023, a touchscreen system replaced the previous touchpad-controlled system. Forward collision warning, automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, and lane keeping assist are standard. Also in 2023, Lexus began offering the UX as hybrid-only. Blind spot warning and rear cross traffic warning became standard on all trim lines for the 2021 model year. For 2025, the UX got Lexus' fifth-generation hybrid system which brought power up to 196-hp. Lexus' Safety System+ 3.0 became standard and includes ACC, LCA, LDW, and AEB.
