2025 Volkswagen ID4
Pro S 4-door SUV AWD 0.0-liter electric (335 hp) (Not Available Electric) Direct 1-speed
MSRP: $39735 ~ $57055

Most Volkswagens are well-built, agile, fun-to-drive cars that feel slightly more premium than their competitors. Its lineup is focused on SUVs, most of which have spacious, comfortable interiors and unexpectedly responsive driving dynamics. Its Golf hatchback, especially in performance trims, is a rare balance of practicality and driving thrills. Most models, including its EVs, have excellent fit and finish. Brand-wide downsides include unintuitive controls and infotainment systems, and below-average reliability for new cars. Reliability for used VWs is average.
The ID.4 is Volkswagen's first-ever long range EV for the U.S. market. The rear-drive model has a 201-hp, rear motor, with an EPA estimated 250-mile driving range. The AWD Pro S, 295-hp, has EPA estimated 240-mile driving range. Standard features for the five-passenger ID.4 compact SUV include dual-zone climate control, a heated steering wheel and rain-sensing wipers. The ID.4 is nimble and enjoyable to drive. The ride is firm but composed. It's also roomy and functional. Some of the controls are unintuitive or too distracting. It gains about 20 miles worth of range per hour of charging when plugged into a 240-volt connector. Standard active safety features include FCW, AEB with pedestrian detection, BSW, and RCTW. EPA estimated ranges increased slightly for all 2022 versions.
