The overview
The all-new Prelude combines the Civic Hybrid's efficient powertrain with key chassis hardware from the Civic Type R to create a new sports coupe. The 200-hp, 2.0-liter four-cylinder hybrid can be shifted with paddles behind the steering wheel, allowing the driver to row through simulated gear changes. In the non-simulated world, the Prelude is pretty slow for a sporty model, needing 7.8 seconds to go from 0 to 60 mph. On the bright side, the 40 mpg overall it managed in our testing is pretty fantastic. Steering feel, cornering capabilities, and braking performance are all excellent, giving drivers strong confidence on twisty roads. Inside, you'll find aggressively bolstered front seats and an array of straightforward physical controls. Like its predecessors from decades ago, the Prelude has a 2+2 interior layout, with the tiny rear seat best suited for cargo or small children rather than adults.

Behind the data
Latest source update: October 21, 2026
Vehicle summaries, specifications, pricing and ratings come from Consumer Reports vehicle records. Auto Guide groups these records by model and reported generation start year.
Available years are listed explicitly. Gaps do not imply that a model was discontinued. Prices are source estimates, not live offers. No first-hand road test by Auto Guide is claimed.
