2027 Kia EV3

The EV3 is a new subcompact electric SUV that looks like a mini EV9 and effectively replaces the similarly sized Kia Niro EV. The entry-level Light model has a 58.3-kWh battery, a 220 mile range, and front-wheel drive from a single motor. Higher-trim models get an 81.4-kWh battery, two motors, a 320-mile range, and optional all-wheel drive. The EV3 is based on a pared-down 400-volt version of the E-GMP platform that underpins other Hyundai and Kia EVs, so DC fast charging is a little slower--Kia says it takes about 30 minutes to charge from 10 to 80 percent. The interior is also similar to the Kia EV9, including the wide digital displays and twist-action gear selector. The EV3 goes on sale in late 2026.

About Kia

For almost any modern vehicle category, there’s a Kia that’s worth considering buying. Among competitive small and midsized sedans, Kia sells the K4 and K5. For small and midsized SUVs, models like the Sportage and Sorento are competitive with nice interiors, good ride comfort, and appropriately powerful engines. Fuel economy across the brand is generally good, but hybrid and plug-in hybrid options are available for even more miles per gallon. Plug-in hybrid options have a useful all-electric driving range. Kia EVs are generally competent, but buyers need to be attentive to reliability. Many new and used Kias earn our recommendation.
