Review and specifications
2027 Kia Seltos
Compared to its predecessor, the second-generation Seltos expands slightly in most dimensions, including adding a bit more elbow and cargo room. It is also adding to its list of amenities, with an interior that looks more inviting than some larger, more expensive models, and a long roster of comfort, convenience, and active safety technology. In addition to traditional four-cylinder engines, the Seltos gains a hybrid powertrain. All-wheel drive remains optional. And to provide more flavors for buyers, it is expanding on the LX, EX, and SX trims to add a sporty GT-Line and off-road-inspired X-Line. The modern-looking interior features a wide, panoramic display comprised of three screens. A head-up display is available. The digital voice assistant is powered by ChatGPT. All told, the “entry-level” descriptor may no longer apply to Kia’s smallest and most affordable SUV.

Brand context
About Kia
For almost any modern vehicle category, there’s a Kia that’s worth considering buying. Among small and midsized SUVs, models like the Sportage and Sorento rank near the top in their respective classes for their nice interiors, ride comfort, and appropriately powerful engines. SUVs like the Telluride have ride comfort, interior space, and overall value that earn it regular placement near the top of Consumer Reports’ ratings. Fuel economy across the brand is generally good, but hybrid and plug-in hybrid options are available for even more miles per gallon. Plug-in hybrid options have useful all-electric driving range. Kia EVs are generally competent, ranging from compact sedans up to a three-row SUV. Kia’s reliability scores have been improving, but other brands score higher in our rankings. Specific Kia models have earned our recommendation among used cars.
