The overview
The ES midsized luxury sedan was redesigned for 2026. The eighth-generation ES is 6.5 inches longer, drops the gas-only model, and adds an all-electric version. There's a 221-hp, single-motor, front-wheel-drive 350e with an EPA-estimated range of up to 307 miles, and the 338-hp, dual-motor, all-wheel-drive 500e with an EPA-estimated range of up to 276 miles. A 244-hp hybrid is also available. Our 500e test car's strengths aren’t on the stat sheet, as its driving range, 5.2-second 0-to-60-mph time, and 150-kW maximum DC fast-charging rate lag behind competitors. Instead, it stands out as one of the quietest, most comfortable luxury sedans you can buy. Occupants benefit from comfortable and supportive front seats and a rear seat that is both spacious and plush. The ES debuts a clean, minimalist interior design, but that simplicity comes at a cost: Most climate and audio functions have been moved onto a 14-inch central touchscreen.

Behind the data
Latest source update: October 29, 2026
Vehicle summaries, specifications, pricing and ratings come from Consumer Reports vehicle records. Auto Guide groups these records by model and reported generation start year.
Available years are listed explicitly. Gaps do not imply that a model was discontinued. Prices are source estimates, not live offers. No first-hand road test by Auto Guide is claimed.
