The overview
Based on the company's Skyactiv-Vehicle Architecture, the battery-powered MX-30 is 2023 is its final year. the vanguard for a series of variations and electrified models to follow. Initially, the MX-30 is powered by a 143-horsepower electric motor driving the front wheels and teamed with a 35.5-kWh lithium-ion battery. With such a small battery, range is modest--about 100 miles. That would be competitive a decade ago but not in today's EV market. A plug-in hybrid with a rotary engine will come as well. The most visually distinct elements are the rear doors that are rear-hinged like in a BMW i3, sharply raked rear pillar, and contrasting roof. Sales is only in California. The MX-30 comes with a suite of standard active safety features. 2023 is its final year.

Behind the data
Latest source update: September 11, 2026
Vehicle summaries, specifications, pricing and ratings come from Consumer Reports vehicle records. Auto Guide groups these records by model and reported generation start year.
Available years are listed explicitly. Gaps do not imply that a model was discontinued. Prices are source estimates, not live offers. No first-hand road test by Auto Guide is claimed.
